Celebrating the Spirit of NVC in Action

Nonviolent Communication

An Afternoon of Empathy – Nelson / Tasman

October 9, 2021 By Irma Jager

I’m offering an opportunity to come together and give and receive empathy.

Empathy functions as a pressure release valve of sorts. When we’re in pain, getting heard can relieve the pressure we feel inside. After receiving empathy, people are more connected to what is important to them and they have a lower emotional charge.

My guess is that most of you could do with a bit (a lot?) of empathy right now. This afternoon is open to anyone. I will use the first hour to share what empathy is (and also: what it isn’t!) and how we can practice. Then we will go into small groups to experience empathy.

Let me know if you want to join by replying to this email . The venue will be somewhere between Mapua and Motueka.

Cost is $25 per person. I will bring afternoon tea, maybe even a snack 😁
Contact Irma to register: irma@jager.co.nz

“Our ability to offer empathy can allow us to stay vulnerable, defuse potential violence, help us hear the word ‘no’ without taking it as a rejection, revive lifeless conversation, and even hear the feelings and needs expressed through silence.”

– Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD.

WELLINGTON – Connecting in Conflict w/ Yoram Mosenzon

March 7, 2020 By Irma Jager Leave a Comment

Connecting in Conflict

In school we gained knowledge, but very few skills in how to deal with people… This weekend will be dedicated to learning skills in human relationship, conflict resolution and communication, through the Art of Dialogue.

“I travel around many countries; I have met hundreds and thousands of people. And what seems to unite us all is that we all have conflicts. Some have their conflicts well hidden under the carpet, some express it out loud, but everyone I meet experiences challenges with other people.” Yoram Mosenzon

We all deal with irritations, disappointments, hurts, fears, struggles and communication challenges: with our families, children, partner, friends, neighbors and colleagues.”

We will explore:

❀  How to connect in conflict and transform conflicts into deeper trust

❀  How to deal with misunderstandings and differences in opinion between people

❀  The power of Empathy and how it transforms situations and relationships

❀  How to be fully honest but not judgmental

❀  How to deal with inner conflicts (fights between different parts of ourselves)

❀  How to ask (and stand) for what I want

❀  And more…

About NVC:

‘Nonviolent Communication (NVC)’ (Phd. Marshall Rosenberg) is a practical communication tool that radically transforms your relationship with yourself and others. NVC cultivates assertive honesty mixed with a deep quality of Empathy.

NVC transforms conflicts into love and clarity.

About Yoram Mosenzon:

CNVC certified trainer, Coach and a Mediator, Yoram was a dancer/choreographer when he came across NVC 17 years ago. 10 years ago, he decided to stop all his artistic activities in order to dedicate his time and energy fully to sharing NVC. Yoram is now teaching NVC internationally to the general public, teachers in schools, universities, parents, businesses and teams. He is teaching in The Netherlands, France, Israel/Palestine, Belgium, Poland, the USA, and more.

Yoram is one of 4 founders of the NVC (Giraffe) school in Amsterdam for children aged 0-21.
Yoram’s TED talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSGfqyhleUA

Group:

In an interactive and safe learning environment, we will be invited to work on examples from our own life. We will practice “Nonviolent Communication” through demonstrations, role-playing and exercises in order to integrate the NVC values and language more in our own daily lives.

Where:  Wellington, New Zealand

When:  7-8 March 2020 (Saturday 9am – Sunday 5pm)

Fee: A choice between $220 – $440 (Choice is depending on your income and free will- the idea behind a ‘scale’ is that we all have a different current financial situation, and I like the flexibility in fitting the prices per situation).
