Transforming Guilt (online with AnnaB)
28 November, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Guilt weaves through many of our thoughts, interactions and relationships – sometimes whispering in a tiny voice behind our ear, other times shouting so loudly we can hardly hear anything else.
Sometimes it is a momentary sting, at other times it lingers for days, maybe even months or years.
“I should not have yelled at my kids”
“I should have worked harder on that report”
“If only I …”
“This was a terrible choice/decision/thing that I did…”
…
If any of these sound familiar and you would enjoy having a go at practising how to translate them into a kinder voice, come play with us.
During these sessions we will look at all the thoughts, feelings and needs connected with guilt, and explore how to translate the language guilt usually comes in, into a more supportive one.
We will:
– explore thoughts that trigger guilt;
– delve into ways in which we can connect beyond guilt and into needs that it points towards;
– provide our “guilt” (or critical) voice with a “translation service”, so that we can develop a more supportive inner voice;
– practice self-empathy;
– become familiar with the process of “transforming guilt” using the steps of NVC.
The course is in a large part experiential, and we will work in pairs and small groups to practice and explore.
It is aimed at people who have some experience with or understanding of NVC.
